thanksgiving: giving thanks for parents like mine.

i came home last night for thanksgiving break. it was the first time i've been home since september. i hadn't talked to my parents in awhile, so i guess my dad and i had a lot of catching up to do. we ended up talking the whole night, till 5 in the morning. about the randomest stuff: family history, long island city apt shopping, relationships, etc...

amidst this random conversation, i mentioned to my dad that i believe he and my mother spoiled my sister and i. growing up, we were so well-loved and given too much attention. of course, i didn't come to this realization until much later in life. i of course understand that there are many supportive loving encouraging parents out there, but i am just extremely grateful that my parents fall into that category (as opposed to the staunch korean family category: do as i say, or else). my parents instilled in us from a very young age that we were capable of doing whatever we wanted, as long as we had a goal in mind, and a passion/drive to achieve that goal. although my parents gave us free reign in choosing our futures... ironically my sister and i both ended up in law school. haha, lucky for them (i'm sure they would have had a hard time putting on a brave face if we chose to be struggling artists or something).

so i'd just like to annouce to my audience of one (myself), on this thanksgiving eve, i'm extremely thankful for my loving family.

blog

i haven't "blogged" in a really long time. i used to update my xanga every other day back in college...until i realized i had nothing really important to say. i still don't. but it's good to write things down. and so i will. for myself.
